Employee Spotlight: Lori Steele

As a new addition to the team, let’s take the time to get to know Lori Steele, who specializes in corporate business development. Welcome, Lori!

Where are you from and where did you attend school?
I’m from Tennessee, Texas and Florida. I began college at University of FL on scholarship, transferred to UCLA and ended up staying on the west coast.

How did you end up in Manhattan Beach?
I traveled almost every weekend to Manhattan Beach to surf, but my work in Miracle Mile and West Hollywood made living here a non-option. However, once I began consulting for large corporations, that all changed. I could not imagine living in any other area of Los Angeles!

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
Growing up in The South made me a huge fan of DYI: rehabbing homes, working on cars, organizing and making things visually appealing…sometimes WAY out-of-the-box. I also love singing, wine tasting, yoga and my dog, Maddy; not necessarily in that order. In addition, I’ve created a program called Girls Are Important to inspire purpose, value and self-esteem into tween girls. Near and dear to my heart, this is something I’m committed to be a part of for the rest of my life.

When and why did you join Premiere Estates?
As an addition to the Premiere family in the Fall of 2016, I could not be happier. The management team recognized my diverse experience across marketing, client management and real estate – that they tailor made an opportunity for me.

What is your primary role?
Providing innovative solutions to today’s real estate challenges in order to maximize assets, secure sell-through and safeguard interests.

What is your primary strength you offer to clients?
I genuinely care about the people that I work with.

What career advice do you have to offer?
Kick perfectionism to the curb. It prevents you from going after your goals for fear of….not being perfect.

Own a Piece of Palm Springs History

Robert Pond was a man with two great passions: automobiles and aircraft. A Navy pilot during WWII who grew to love the planes he flew, Pond began collecting WWII-era aircraft in the 1970s; his lovingly-restored collection eventually formed the basis for what is now the Palm Springs Air Museum.

He began collecting cars, amazingly, as a child. By the time of his death in 2007, his collection of exotic and classic automobiles had ballooned to well over 100 in number, and was widely regarded as one of the most diverse collections in the world.

His cars lived where he did: the idyllic, 12-acre Pond Estate just outside the Palm Springs city limits. But while the cars were relegated to five on-site climate-controlled garages, Pond and his family could enjoy commanding views of the surrounding mountains from an expansive main home with four bedroom suites, an indoor lap pool & spa, a breathtaking formal dining room with seating for 16, and extensive arched patios framing the aforementioned views.

But Pond also made sure his guests were as comfortable as possible; his estate also includes two fully-appointed guest homes (one is over 4,000 sq ft), another outdoor pool with adjacent open-air kitchen and bar, a tennis court, equestrian facilities, and a showcase pond with dancing fountains and an island accessed by a romantic wooden bridge.

And for guests wishing to skip I-10 traffic…there’s always the helipad.

This stunning desert compound is so much more than the sum of its features; it’s a labor of love and of passion…and a piece of Palm Springs history.  Premiere Estates Auction Company will be auctioning the fee simple interest in The Pond Estate on August 5th; don’t miss your chance to own one of the desert southwest’s most impressive properties.

Flashback Friday: SOLD At Auction

It’s Flashback Friday here at Premiere Estates, and we’re reflecting on our last sale of 2015.  Previously listed for over 7 years, Premiere Estates sold the historic Talisman Plantation at auction in 60 days.

Our marketing campaign for Talisman featured placements in The Washington Post, Baltimore Fishbowl, Curbed DC, Baltimore Business Journal, The Star-Democrat and many others.

Talisman Plantation is a turn-of-the-century jewel encompassing 820 picturesque acres and resting on 4 miles of Prospect Bay frontage.   Over its 80+ year history, Talisman has been the retreat of choice for U.S. Senators, professional sports figures, Hollywood stars, acclaimed writers and publishers; it has notably hosted actress and fashion icon Princess Grace of Monaco.

In its rich, century-old history, Talisman Plantation has been a gathering place to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Chesapeake Bay’s Eastern Shore, encompassed in the height of luxury.  Talisman Plantation is also a sportsman and nature lover’s paradise.  Over its 820 acres, you’ll find mature forests, farmland, sandy beaches and restored wet lands.   Hunting highlights include waterfowl and white-tailed deer.

The main home is a brick Greek Revival manor originally built in 1934, and encompasses over 8,000+ square feet of elegance designed by famed New York City architect Joel Barber.   The compound also includes an in-ground pool, tennis court, horse stables, barns and a guest home.

Premiere Estates has quickly established a reputation as the national leader in procuring the sale of historic plantations, notably including the famed Brandon Plantation.  We are pleased to add the successful sale of the Talisman Plantation to our roster of success.  To learn more about how Premiere Estates can sell your home or estate in 60 days or less, please call us at 877.3.ESTATE.

Emerald Bay – A History

Premiere Estates will be auctioning 102 Emerald Bay in Laguna Beach, CA on February 11th.  It is, quite simply, the most exclusive oceanfront property available in California, and directly fronts legendary Emerald Bay…an area with a colorful history.

In 1906, coastal rancher James Irvine, eager to pay off his gambling debts, sold 148 acres of his land for $26,000. He had no way of knowing that 23 years later, on May 6, 1929, this beachy soil would become home to the oldest most venerable private beach community in Southern California.

The land changed hands, serving as a farm and then as a stop-off for rumrunners. In 1929, it was divided into smaller lots, sold off and the Emerald Bay Community Association (EBCA) was formed. Early purchasers built small, rustic summer homes on their lots. During World War II, when the cottages were rented out to the families of officers stationed at El Toro military base, Emerald Bay’s population became increasingly permanent.

After the war, with land values soaring, many beach cottages were replaced by larger, more luxurious houses. Today, the 500-or-so homes are the primary and vacation residences and compounds of the wealthy, visionary and fortunate.

Your chance to own the finest piece of this exclusive, private beachfront community is coming on February 11th….don’t miss this opportunity!

Flashback Friday

In recent years, Premiere Estates Auction Company has become known for selling historic estates in the Virginia and Washington, D.C. area.  Today, we’re reflecting back where our expertise started, with the historic Brandon Plantation located in Brandon, Virginia.

In 2012, we were approached by a client who was interested in Premiere Estates procuring the sale of The Brandon Plantation – the oldest continuously operating farm in the United States.  The Estate counted two former U.S. Presidents as previous owners, and had entertained countless political and historical figures throughout its over 100 year history.   Our Vice President of National Sales, Michael Schwartz was the agent to head up this initiative.   Michael was struck by the Estate’s rich historical importance, its custom design by Thomas Jefferson, and its uncanny likeness to the Premiere Estates Auction Company logo – the home on the Estate was nearly identical to the home on our logo.  The Estate and Premiere Estates Auction Company were a match made in heaven.

The Brandon Plantation campaign was one of our most successful to date, attracting unprecedented exposure, international inquiries and ultimately winning huge awards for the success of the campaign.  The end result was a sales price that greatly exceeded the bank’s appraisal and Seller’s expectations.   The new owner requested anonymity and non-disclosure of the final sales price, but we can say that both the Buyer and the Seller were extremely pleased with the end result.

Since the resounding success of the Brandon Plantation, we’ve worked on incredible estates like Talisman Plantation, Green Plains Waterfront Estate, and many more.   It’s a unique market we’ve cornered here, but we’re proud to be a part of the sales of some of America’s finest historical estates.  We’re reflective today; sometimes you have to look back at where you’ve been to see where you’re going.  What President’s home will we auction next?  Stay tuned.

Mid-Year Momentum

Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2015?  This has been a huge year for Premiere Estates Auction Company; once June came around, we realized we needed to take a moment to pause and reflect on the year so far, as well as what’s coming in the second half of 2015.

It’s been a banner year for us, both as a brand and for breaking even more barriers in the luxury real estate auction world. We hired our new Lead Graphic Designer in March, and his vision has helped take Premiere Estates to the next level.  We’re setting the standard for luxury with our newly-designed website, marketing materials and soon-to-come logo.

But our branding isn’t all that’s improved; among our other highlights for this year, we also launched the world’s first ultra-luxury multi-country property auction.  Simply put, we put the Caribbean on sale, with stunning investment and development opportunities all throughout the Caribbean basin.  And there’s so much more coming.

Join us in reviewing the first half of 2015. We look forward to an even more successful second half.
